As all of you probably know, Holy Cross has so valued taking care of those in need that they have designated 10% of our previous year’s income to go towards Outreach. Equally important, though, is the fact that so many parishioners volunteer countless hours to aid organizations that Holy Cross sponsors. I have always felt so proud to represent our church in my role as chairperson as I visited the various sites within the community to ascertain their mission and how exactly they would use our funds.
However, after much prayer and discernment, I have decided to resign as Outreach chairperson. I have held this position for 12 years, and while I have enjoyed it immensely, there are several factors that have contributed towards my decision. The primary one is the needs of my family. My family here in Wilmington, and my family in Washington D.C. are in need of my time and care, which both exhilarates and exhausts me. I do not feel I have the same energy to contribute to chairing this ministry as I once did, and I also feel that it is time for a new minister to vitalize Outreach with fresh ideas.
If you are interested in taking on this ministry position, please speak to me or Mother Chana. I am delighted to be a resource to whoever desires to offer their gifts in this capacity. I cannot adequately express my gratitude to all those who make Holy Cross such a caring community. So, I say a hearty thank you for all those who have so generously aided me, and ask you to pledge support and guidance to the new chairperson.
