It’s time! It’s time! It’s Angel Tree time! As many of you know, Holy Cross has participated in this wonderful prison ministry for many years. We have 52 children to serve this year, 52 children who will have a parent in prison this Christmas. The incarcerated parent has completed an application requesting a gift be purchased on their behalf for their child/children. Here’s where Angel Tree steps in. Even though we’ve participated in this ministry for years, our procedure will be a little different this year. Welcome to Angel Tree 2020!
Sunday November 22 will be Outreach Sunday at Holy Cross. We are inviting you to stop by between 2:30 and 4:00 and select an angel to shop for. We’ll be set up in the parking lot and ready to help you in your selection. In order to assure CDC guidelines, we are asking you to wear a mask and maintain social distancing with others. We will have our angels divided into age groups: birth to age 4, 5 to 11, and 12 to 18. You’ll still be able to request a girl or boy. Just as in the past, gift suggestions will be written on each angel. Instead of choosing your angel from a tree, we will have a table set up for each age group and you will select your angel from the table. We felt this would help assure social distancing. If you know ahead of time that you will not be able to stop by Holy Cross on November 22nd, please feel free to email Lee Stroud (leestroud105@gmail.com) with your request and gift suggestions for an angel will be sent to you. Once you have your angel the fun begins…shopping! Knowing that many of us are trying to avoid busy stores, online shopping or curbside delivery are great alternatives. Gift certificates or gift cards are also a good idea for teens.
There will be another Outreach Sunday December 6th from 2:30 to 4:00 when gifts should be returned to Holy Cross. Gifts should be wrapped or in gift bags with angel tag attached when dropped off. Please let Denise or Lee know if you’ll be unable to drop your gifts off on the 6th and we’ll help you make other arrangements.
Just a quick reminder; the gift ideas you are given are just suggestions. Shop with your heart and have fun. Your gift will certainly be special to the child receiving it, and will also be appreciated by the incarcerated parent in whose name you are giving the gift.
Call us if you have questions and watch the Thursday email for additional information. We look forward to seeing you November 22nd.
