 When Christmas Hurts

Dear Ones,

Holy Cross Church invites those in our community to this service devoted to music and prayer which acknowledges ‘the longest night is near’ – Christmas Eve and then the 12 days of Christmas--for those who hurt physically, emotionally, and/or spiritually. The music and prayers create space for those challenged to embrace the ‘joy of Christmas’; who mourn those they love and see no more; those whose pain is known to them alone; those lonely or struggling with healing; even our children and teens who’ve lost a pet, a friend, a grandparent. The isolation of COVID expresses itself differently for each person and household. You may be one who can reach out and bring a friend needing comfort found in the power of liturgy and music. For those who hurt, isolation is frequently ‘their balm’.

For those unable to attend, please hold us in contemplative prayer from 5:00 – 6:00 on this Advent evening, for healing, for guidance. The service will be held outdoors, inviting you to remain in your car(s) or bring your own seating.

 In Christ, Nancy +
