Daughters of the King (DOK) Tea

The Elizabeth Chapter of the Daughters of the King is planning a tea on October 21 and invites all women of Holy Cross to attend. Mother Chana will be the featured speaker at this event, sharing with us the women of the Bible. Please see the event poster printout available on the table in the gathering area at church or see the notice in the Thursday email.

The Daughters of the King is a religious order with members that accept and live by a Rule of Life during their lifetime. Our Rule requires a spiritual discipline of daily prayer, service and evangelism. Our membership includes women in the Anglican, Episcopal, Lutheran and Roman Catholic churches. We pray daily for our clergy and our chapter at Holy Cross. The Elizabeth Chapter meets monthly for study, prayer and sharing. Each aspiring member participates in a twelve week course, followed by a service of admission into the Order.

Daughters wear a special sterling silver cross as a symbol of commitment. It is a Greek Fleury cross with equal length arms and is inscribed with the watchword, “Magnanimiter Crucem Sustine,” which means, “With heart, mind and spirit uphold and bear this cross.” The letters FHS, which are inscribed at the base of the cross are the initials for the Order, “For His Sake”.

There are yearly membership dues, but we are not allowed to conduct fund raising events. We can however, wholeheartedly, accept donations from outside the Order.
