Help needed with resettling refugees

I received the following information from the deans of the Lower Cape Fear Deanery, Eric Mills and Lisa Richey.  Because this is an urgent need, items will need to be at Holy Cross by this coming Sunday, September 19.  I will collect them and see that they get to Kathleen Abrams, my contact person.  An Amazon link is given below and Kathleen has provided her address if you’d like to send orders directly to her.  If ordering from Amazon, please check the delivery date.

Following is the information as we have received it:

We have a major in the Marines at Holy Trinity (Rob just confirmed him a few months ago) that is involved in the refugee receiving project.

Most of these refugees left with nothing but the clothes they were wearing.  I know that East Carolina is supportive of resettling refugees.

Jon, the Marine, has put me in touch with the Red Cross who has contacted me about helping with immediate needs.

This is not to take away from hopefully resettling refugees in the future, but in getting them items they need now as quickly as possible.

What has been asked for is:

5,000 Feminine Hygiene Pads

10,000 toiletry kits

14,000 bars of soap (if not included in hygiene kits)

This will be going to Ft. Pickett in Blackstone, VA

Below is an Amazon link for hygiene kits.  You can also purchase soap and hygiene pads in bulk on Amazon. If this is an easier way to help us, you can ship directly to me at

Kathleen Abrams

 5236 Calais Circle

 Wilmington, NC  28409

This is an immediate need so any help you can give us to fill this request is greatly appreciated.

Please call me with any questions.
