Meet the Brownlees

David and Irene Brownlee started attending Holy Cross in November of 2017 and
have been regulars at worship ever since. David is a retired United Methodist
pastor and Irene, a retired college administrator. They were looking for a Christian
community to settle into after forty-five years of working with congregations from
New York to Mississippi, but mostly in the Raleigh area.
They felt immediately enfolded into Holy Cross by the intentional and consistent
hospitality of the entire congregation, and they decided to become regular
participants because of their love for our liturgy, the power of Shana and Andy’s
sermons and the openness of the congregation.
Irene is thrilled to be playing the keyboard, and David has found his place singing in
the band. They are both interested in joining the hearts and hands of Holy Cross as
it impacts the Wilmington community with the Good News of the Kingdom of God.
They live on Carolina Beach and enjoy hiking, boating and RV traveling with their
Lab, Suma.
