The Blue Bag Project

With the recent passing of my parents to cancer and as well as other male members of my family who are affected by cancer, I am asking that you prayerfully consider supporting the Blue Bag Project at New Hanover Regional. This project was started by our grandson's best friend, Gray Keith. Gray has been building this project for the past 2 years. He started the Blue Bag Project to help male cancer patients as there were no support services specifically for men in our local community. Gray is currently a junior in high school and as a freshman, started filling reusable blue bags with useful articles including blankets, socks, chapstick, lotions, puzzles, etc and delivering them to Zimmer Cancer Center to be distributed by the nurses to male oncology patients. He has distributed over 300 bags to date. His goal is to provide every male oncology patient at Zimmer (approximately 1000 annually) with a bag and to eventually expand the organization through other hospitals in eastern North Carolina.

He is now finding that all of the above was the easy part! Fundraising has proven to be his biggest challenge. He needs to have the necessary funds to continue purchasing the supplies to ensure all patients will receive a bag. In an effort to help him raise money and spread awareness of the project, he is asking for donations to this most worthy cause. I hope you will not only consider individual contributions to Blue Bag Project, but may also consider forwarding this email to any individual, foundation, or company that you think may be interested in supporting this worthwhile cause.

Thank you for your consideration!
