Senior Warden's Message

Happy New Year!  It promises to be an exciting one here at Holy Cross. We are up and running with vestry teams forming as I write and the 2016 budget approved.   With our business and financial affairs in place and on track we are now set to prepare for the next step(s) in our journey together as a church family.   Our goal for the not-too-distant future is to add a full-time priest to our family to help us better continue Jesus’ mission in our community and beyond.  In the meantime, it is impo…

Mary Lou and Harold Layne

Mary Lou and Harold Layne consider themselves "charter members" of Holy Cross. They participated in the first meeting with Bishop Daniels back in 2003 regarding the establishment of Holy Cross as a parish within the Episcopal Diocese of East Carolina. They love the people of Holy Cross and are attracted to the great fellowship and fun social events such as Supper Club and beach night during the summer. Boy Scout Update

  Pack 283 was formed in July 2015 and was chartered with four boys and four Unit Committee members and the endorsement of the Holy Cross Vestry.  The Pack has grown to 12 boys, 5 Den Leaders, 2 Pack Leaders and 4 Unit Committee members.  The boys are organized in two Dens (Tiger – 1st Grade and Wolf 2nd Grade). The dens normally meet every week.  The Cub Scouts come from 4 schools in the Wilmington area. The Pack is open to any boy of Cub Scouting age (6-11 years old).  The Pack normally meets…

Interfaith Refugee Ministries

As many of you may be aware, a number of our Holy Cross parishioners  expressed a desire to work with refugees who are being resettled to the Wilmington area.   On November 22nd, a group of us met with Sara Paschal from Interfaith Refugee Ministries (IRM) for a two hour training session.  The training, a requirement before we can co-sponsor/work with any refugees, was very informative.
