Friends in Christ,
What is it about blowing bubbles that even a kid living in the wilds of Africa finds joy in that tiny soapy wand? I remember fondly blowing bubbles in the summer and watching them pop as a kid. Or now, watching my grandson blow bubbles with a huge wand creating giant bubbles. Below are a couple of bubble poems. The first from a child and then from an adult.
Bubbles
I like bubbles.
Shiny bubbles,
Round bubbles,
Fraigile bubbles,
Bubbles that break
And bubbles that pop.
I like bubbles.

Bubbles
A poem by John Nott
Bubbles shining in the light,
Respendent colours, precious flight,
Fragile, mosit, glorious hue,
Creation’s children, like me, like you.
Small and big, each aspiring.
To do its utmost, no time for tiring.
Each so separate, but so alike,
Hard to choose which one should lose,
But Fate and Fortune must have their say,
If all or one should rule the day.
All too soon they’ve burst, they’ve gone,
Only memory lingers on……
Forming ,growing, without knowing,
Like bubbles we’re all coming and going.
Final words for those who care,
When we’re gone, we’re everywhere.
Then I was reminded that underwater all the bubbles rise skyward. Heavenward, one could say. Here’s the lyrics to the choris from the song, Bubbles Up by Jimmy Buffett.
Bubbles up
They will point us towards home
No matter how deep or how far we roam
They will show you the surface
The plot and the purpose
So, when the journey gets long
Just know that you are loved (you are loved)
There is light up above (up above)
And joy, there is always enough
Bubbles up
My friend, thank you sharing this song. It is what I needed in the moment on this particular eve.
Blessings,
Rev. Anne
