Big Sky Country

During a recent trip to Montana, Rev. Anne explored the National Bison Range and reflected on the beauty of nature and the Genesis stories of creation.

Rev. Anne Abdy

Big Sky Country

Dear People of Faith,

In recent weeks I spent time in Montana visiting with family as we celebrated the life of my uncle. It was a bittersweet time as fourteen family members (many of whom I had not seen since 2009) gathered from across the country and local family friends came together for the service. There was much laughter, and yes, some tears too.

While in Montana, I was able to go sight-seeing for bison (#1) at the National Bison Range located near

Missoula. What incredible animals! The picture was taken about 10 feet from the vehicle. While at the Bison Range, one is able to see spectacular views of the Mission Mountain Range (#2) with peaks topping 7000ft and the valley below. A valley carved out by a glacier about 70 million years ago. Today, the mountain range and valley are known for outdoor recreation, including hiking, fishing, and wildlife viewing. (#3).

As I walked about my thoughts went to the Genesis stories of creation. God liked everything He made, from the minute details of flowers (Bull Thistle, #4) to massive animals and gorgeous vistas.

Pictures do not do justice with the spectacular nature of Big Sky Country (Montana’s nickname).

How have you experienced God this summer?

If you spent time out of town this Spring/Summer and would like to share your experience with

the parish, please let me know. It will be a fun event of “seeing” the world through your eyes.

Blessings,

Rev. Anne
