Dear People of Faith,
A quick housekeeping detail. The church office will be closed beginning today (11/25/25). We will reopen on Tuesday, 12/2.

I wanted to share some of my thoughts about the recent Cursillo Weekend held on November 6-9 at Trinity Center and Camp. To start out, one cannot hold a retreat like this at a better location than our Diocesan Camp. It afforded me time to rest in the quiet moments and look out at treetops or the smooth water of Bogue Sound. I never actually made it to the beach side of the camp. Yes, I know, I know, I should have.
Even though I have lived in nine dioceses across the nation and have participated in the Cursillo movement at different levels, this weekend was my first experience with the Diocese of East Carolina. In some regards, I felt privileged to be a “pilgrim of sorts.” Much of my time was spent listening and observing, plus noting subtle differences.
Below are some quotes that leapt out to me and thought them might be helpful for reflection.
“In the end, it’s going to be okay. If it’s not okay now, it’s not the end.”
“A Rule of Life guides Christians to stay in the channel of Christian Life. We want to follow the channel charted by Jesus Christ. To do this we have to check the water depth to make sure we do not get disrupted by daily worries and obstacles. How often do you need to check your depth and gauge the channel to get back in the channel?”
“The orientation to lay ministry is the baptismal covenant. God will lead us; we only have to open our hearts and let him in.”
"Because people are different than you doesn’t mean that they are unknown to you.”
Acronym for HOPE: Holy Open People Expressing Christ in action.
May you all have a blessed Thanksgiving. See you in Advent!
Blessings,
Rev. Anne
