Pokes and Tugs, God Getting Your Attention

When God "Pokes," Pay Attention

Pokes and Tugs, God Getting Your Attention

Dear Friends in Christ,

This is the second edition of the Holy Crossing Newsletter this year! We are in Week 2 of Week 52. So much has happened in just nine days! We have pivoted from the Christmas Season to the Epiphany Season the burning of our church mortgage, showing the movie, Back To The Future II, and a pizza and popcorn fest! You missed a great event if you were not there last Sunday! We have set new goals and are adding ideas to our bucket lists. This New Year also brings with it much hope. Hope for the future. The hope that what we know as true will continue to be true, be known to us, and will be familiar to us. The idea, or notion of consistency as we enter this New Year 2025. And this new year brings change in our lives. Sometimes navigating change can be difficult. As a diabetic I am navigating a variety of changes this New Year, such as Walking each day, eating healthier, reducing stress (not going so well right now), etc. All these minute changes are corrections of sorts. Corrections to my lifestyle as I work towards the hope of a healthier body. It dawned on me late this morning that God creates corrective action too. He wants you to always look to Him. He wants a deeper relationship with you. God pokes you using the Holy Spirit to make those corrections. As with each correction, God steers you closer to Him and God will poke you in ways that only make sense to you! He won’t let you forget. That thought or tug will always be there till it is acted upon. What are some of the pokes you’re experiencing from God today? What is the corrective action God wants you to take? Why the resistance? What are you afraid of? Is it the taking down of a proverbial “wall?” Is it to build a relationship with someone who has injured you? Is it letting go of an idea? A concept? An emotion? Don’t ignore the pokes and tugs because God is speaking to you! May your New Year be filled with hope, joy and peace…and many pokes or tugs!

Blessings,

Anne+
