Luopads resume!

On Monday March 23, 2026 at 2 p.m. we will gather once again at Holy Cross to make LuoPads for the girls and ladies of Guatemala! As you may know, we took all the LuoPads made in 2025 to Guatemala in January 2026. Unfortunately there was serious violence in Guatemala City the weekend we arrived and the government closed all the schools across the country for a month. We were therefore not able to go to the schools to distribute the kits so we left them in the very capable hands of the Pastor’s wife to distribute on our behalf. The kits are lasting six months to a year, and the women have indicated that the washing of them goes well. If the sun is out, they dry in one day.

It was suggested to us that we make some pads smaller for the younger girls. We are happy to report that we now have templates for the smaller sizes and will be making the smaller sizes in 2026. We would be delighted to welcome anyone who wishes to participate in this project and ask that you bring scissors if you have them. Anyone who can cut out, trace shapes, pin, turn or sew is more than welcome. If you are just curious about what we do, please come and see! Any questions please speak to Roni.
