The final session of Porch Talks, 2025-2026, will begin on Thursday, April 23. For those not familiar, Porch Talks is a succession of four small group discussion meetings where participants share their thoughts on questions pertaining to Christian beliefs and spirituality.

Beginning April 28th at 2:00 pm, we will have Mahjong instruction along with cards & games.

Are you overwhelmed by REALM?  The Vestry would like to provide help in navigating through the process.  This will enable our congregation to sign-up for events, search the directory, and view individual giving.  If you need help of any kind, contact Barbara. We will happily forge thru the process to help you see so much more that Holy Cross has to offer.

EASTER SUNDAY is a celebration of great music.  We will gather with In Christ Alone, a contemporary Christian hymn composed in 2001 by Keith Getty and Stuart Townend.  Its four verses recount the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Did you know that Holy Cross supplies luncheon for friends and families of Hospice patients the last Wednesday of each month?

We celebrate Palm Sunday with its triumphal procession of Jesus into Jerusalem, singing All Glory Laud and Honor as we also process into church, a 9th‑century Latin hymn written by Theodulf of Orléans for Palm Sunday processions.

We would be delighted to welcome anyone who wishes to participate in this project and ask that you bring scissors if you have them.

Back to this Sunday.  Our sequence hymn comes from the Taizé community.  Wait for the Lord is a well-known meditative chant composed by Jacques Berthie.  “Waiting for the Lord” is a central theme in many spiritual traditions, typically representing a period of active trust, preparation, and patience rather than passive inactivity.

In just over one week, Holy Cross will host the first-ever Repair Café in Wilmington! We will be joined by 12 volunteer repair coaches – including two from Raleigh, one from Jacksonville, and three from Holy Cross.

Our musical worship this Sunday begins with the Sequence song, “Be Thou My Vision”, which began as a 6th‑century Irish monastic prayer attributed to St. Dallán Forgaill; later translated into English and paired with the traditional Irish folk tune Slane.

This Sunday we will continue our Lenten tradition of beginning the worship service in silence.  Although very appropriate, I am not a fan of this tradition.   Our sequence hymn, Down to the River to Pray is a traditional American folk song with roots that date back to the 19th century. On Wednesday, February 18th, the Church begins the holy season of Lent. You've probably heard someone say, "I'm going to give up ___ for Lent."

All of it unfolding in a church hall, on an ordinary day, because someone picked up the phone, made a call, and said, “What if we tried this?”

Respecting the subdued theme of Lent, we will not have gathering or processional hymns this Sunday but will begin the musical portion of our worship with the Kyrie, the roots of which reach back to the Greek-speaking Jewish Scriptures

March 21 the Repair Cafe will hold its first workshop at Holy Cross. Check out the ways you can get involved.

 As we have entered the period of Lent, our music for this Sunday will reflect a more contemplative mode, combined with songs that pay tribute to our Cub Scouts and the scouting program.

This Sunday’s music is very familiar, and they are all contemporary songs.  We will gather with "They'll Know We Are Christians by Our Love", a popular Christian hymn written in the 1960s by Father Peter Scholtes. His inspiration comes from John 13:35: "By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another". 

Repair Café Coming to Wilmington on March 21 WILMINGTON, NC – Repair Café NC is pleased to announce its first event in Wilmington. It will take place on Saturday, March 21 from 1:00 – 5:00 PM at Holy Cross Episcopal Church, 5820 Myrtle Grove Road.
